The GX 460 does not have a hod flutter issue--only the new GX 550 and LX 600/700 series.
My 200 absolutely has hood flutter.

A small section of pipe insulation under the hood on each side near the cowling should do the trick.
Installed the pipe insulation (3 inch OD) between the rise of the black plastic box on each side of the engine near the rear of the hood and it worked perfectly to stop 90% of the hood shake. Have to reset each time the hood is opened or affix in place.

I'm not sure if the LX models have the same problem but it seems like the GXs now has a TSB where the hood is separating from the brace.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the LX has a TSB as well. With all the effort that clearly went into the LX, I'm surprised and disappointed the bean counters won the battle of the hood, and that Lexus signed off on this as "good enough."

It's a pronounced bug when you drive the vehicle. My wife drove ours home from the dealership, and her two immediate comments (she's not a car person) were: 1) "The hood is shaking or something," and 2) "It sounds like something is rolling around in the back." This second one was the sound of the ICE "pop" as it turns on and off, which is another poor choice by Lexus.

But... Lexus seems to have gotten most of the big stuff right.

Rant alert: Don't get me started on 6 buttons you need to press (I've counted) on the touch screen to turn on the massaging seat.... And then if you want it off, you can press the 6 buttons again to get into that screen, or wait 15 minutes because Lexus thinks that's all the massage you should need and it turns off.

I'm pretty sure this totally can be done with a software update. Heck, just add it so that we can say "Hey Lexus, turn on driver/passenger massage"

Piggy back rant: MID doesnt show tire pressure (or at least I haven't found a way to do so). Even the 2nd screen has enough room to show tire pressure. And "Hey Lexus" can't show tire pressure either.

If u want one other issue, look at bottom of the the rocker panel where it meets the front door and fender. Totally misaligned. See this on most other lx s too. I'll post a Pic up and clarify

I noticed that on mine as well. Surprised to see that.

That hey lexus thing is an annoyance. What does it actually do? There is a few things i want to shut off and that is one.

I was complaining about mine not shifting into 1st unless you are about at a complete stop, “this car is a piece of s***” and it turned on and said “this vehicle currently has no recalls”. Was the funniest thing, me my business partner turned and looked at each other and started laughing. So defensive lexus 😆

This can be turned off in the infotainment system.

tundra hood does it too, aluminum
but ill say any old 4x4 ive ever had has had the panel bonding let go after XX amount of years leading to a tinny sound when your shut your hood,
solution re-panel bond it, caulker-up, i do it to all my trucks, sounds way better when shutting the hood and would take care of hood flutter too im sure

True.

You should see how much flex and flutter is in my 80series hood. Yikes. I had to use seam sealer to redo all the bonding on the roof's sheet metal as well. Used to should like a steel drum in the cabin everytime I hit a bump in the road.

Come on guys, complaints about hood flutter, misaligned panels...you are all looking for 200 series build and construction. That ship has sale and that era is gone by now.

Hot take, build quality on the 200 after 2015 went down.

My 2014 side by side with my buddy's 2021 heritage has hands down better build quality.
Large panel gaps and lack of sound deadening in the doors on the 2021 was a bit surprise. Failing door lock actuators on the 2016, so on and so forth.

That said, I've been surprised at how prone to rust the frame on the 200 is. My 2014 has more frame rust developing than my 2005.

The 200 is amazing, but not without its own issues.

There's nothing magical about the 200 Series.

The new 300 series may ultimately be looked at as a more robust successor.

Time will tell.

Hood flutter won't leave you stranded. It was a cost-cutting choice, and the 200 is chock-full of those as well. I'd be happy to list them, but it would be a long list.

Hood flutter aside I feel like the fit and finish in regards to panels and things being screwed together tight is par for the Toyota/Lexus course on the LX, GX, and even the 250. Tundra and Tacoma have had some quibbles with panel gaps, door card rattles, loose glove boxes, and those sorta things but they are also domestic/mexico assembled vehicles, not Japan. I'm a little sour on my 200 at the moment due to some electrical gremlins that need to be chased down. Even the mighty 200 can have issues it seems.

When I bought my LX, the hood was fluttering when I reached highway speed, and I immediately pulled over, as I thought the hood might be unlatched. Nope.

Sold my LX, not because of the hood, but because I decided I simply like my 2010 LC better. But that hood fluttering is a real thing, and it can be a bit distracting and unsettling when you are driving. As a side note, I really didn't like the fake engine noise that Lexus pipes in, so that the thing sounds like a hot rod. Running through up to 10 gears of that nonsense, it gets annoying really fast. No reason for it at all. If I want a growling turbo SUV, I'll get a RRS.

The problem isn't the hood being aluminium, the problem is too thin aluminium.
The MK4 Supra's hood is fully aluminium but it's solid as hell and does not flutter at all. But the MK4 is golden age 90's Toyota.
