Since buying the BJ70, I let the glow-plug light go out on cold days and fire her up. I get a cloud of white smoke out the pipe which I understand is normal and condensation (impresses the neighbors, like a smoke mortar).

Today I turned the ignition, watched the glow-plug light go out, then waited another 10 full seconds, when I started it, nada smoke....same temperatures and humidity outside, same amount of time between last drive and next.... what am I missing?

Hey Moose,
smoke / no smoke sometimes it will smoke sometimes not, you say you waited an extra 10 seconds then the super glow would be working so the chamber will be 10 sec warmer so less smoke.
cheers

Yah, like Wayne said, yours is a two stage glow system. First cycle is full voltage thru your plugs for something like 5-10 seconds with a very loud click when it's over. After that, the half voltage cycle takes over and keeps heating even if you start your truck and it is now running. This cycle can run for as long as 70 seconds. If you listen very quietly you can hear the second click (when the truck is off that is).

Craig.
