On a 3b 12v alternator there are 3 wires on the green plug and the B terminal directly on the alternator. The b terminal goes to the battery. In the green plug coming from the alternator there three connections one up the top(green) and two at the bottom(red bottom right and white bottom left. How do I know which one is the switched one and which one is constantly powered. I think that the switched one is the one on the right (red wire) and the always powered one is the one on the left (white). The connection on the left(white) seems to be the voltage sensing connection and the one on the right(red) the connection to excite the fields and get the alternator running. Is this correct? Also where about on the wiring harness would you guys connect the voltage sensing connection to if you had an anameter in the system (fj40 with 3b)? and what is the third connection on the aternator plug for. last question for this post. It looks like on the fsm digagram that the switched wire has a 7.5amp fuse on it is this correct? I love this board except for the fact that it makes me feel i know very little about cruisers compared to all others on here.

dude,
just by what you are asking tells me you are on your way to becoming a guru. pull out your wiring schematic and follow it through and the answers are right there.
