My local auto parts store carries Anco. The guy there was telling me they are pretty decent. I was gonna buy a set for my Cruiser and My Z71. Have any of you tried these? I would like to buy local here in my town unless someone says they are junk. I just figure most wipers are the same. Ive got rain x on there now and they are shot.

They're fine- but the rubber dries out in less than a year unless you go for the "premium" Anco.

I have tried Anco, Trico, Costco (Goodyear), Bosch (several different quality grades), and for the money, the Toyota blades from the dealer have been pretty damn good and way cheaper than the "premium" blades from anybody. Sitting in the hot sun not getting used regularly for months on end, then being used routinely on dirty windshields for months at a time is a demanding job for a wiper blade. I've got a year on the Toyota wipers and they are hanging in there.

I just got PIAA silicone blades and I love them, although I don't have experience with how long they last. I hear they last extra long because they are silicone. Very quiet and leave the windshield streak-free dry.

I want to say the guy at the parts store qouted me 7, 14, 21 dollars a piece for anco blades. Thats the decent ones, great ones, and exceptional ones. I thought those prices were good. Might just give them a run.

This.
Silicone wiper blades will last about 5yrs and give a great wipe up to the day they die.
I have Sil-Blade silicone blades, Amazon, all three were like $30.

Even if you park in the sun in a desert climate? If so, I'd spring for silicone. Almost did already but Sil-Blades have mediocre Amazon reviews at best. Currently running bargain wipers I got for $1.50 each from that Rock Auto closeout last year and they already make noise (but clear water very well).

Couldn't tell you about the desert because I don't live there, but I do live wher eit snows, and rains, and gets hot and dry and even on my work van where the wipers will be on for 10hrs a day they still last 5yrs.
But, just like everything, your results may vary.

Think im gonna try these anco blades, im gonna get a set for my cruiser and my DD truck. I will let yall know. Prob spring for the 14 dollar jobs. The rain x wipers i have on now are shat.

NWB (Nippon Wiper Blade) is the OEM.

I like the ANCO's but only all steel triangle frames. The plastic aero ones were garbage. Make sure they fit tight to the wiper arm hook and that your springs are in good shape as well as the arm where it pivots. The windshield curve of the 100 makes it a challenge to get a good wipe and this is only amplified if the wiper arms themselves are worn out, which is very common I've found. New is not too bad, especially if your cheap and just replace the driver side, who cares about the co-pilot. :flipoff2:

Old thread resurrection....
So I am finding that my wipers (mid level BOSCH) will constantly skip or leave streaks when it rains or snows.
No real definitive answer other than OEM for good wiping performance?
Question is, has anyone claybar'd their glass to see if that would help? I did on my 60, and that along with the 2nd Gen 4Runner wiper upgrade they did incredibly well.

I tried all sorts of wipers and was never happy with the performance. I bought new wiper arms from Toyota and all the problems disappeared! The springs get weak and they don't press properly on the glass. No bending the arm does not fix it, I tried.

Do you use OEM blades with the new arms or aftermarket?
And that makes sense, that is what a lot of the guys are doing with the 60s, they are getting new OEM 4runner arms and good to go. So totally makes sense.

I went with Bosch, I've always had great luck with their wipers.

Do you have the part numbers for the OEM arms? Thanks.

If you pull your arms off they have the part number engraved on the underside. :)

Or you could put your VIN into partsouq and it should be able to pull everything for you depending on year. It is under the ELECTRICAL portion, I found it earlier today.

Speaking of 60 owners running 4Runner wipers...I’ve been running LX570 wiper blades for about a year. They work perfectly and offer a sleek low profile updated look to the metal frame blades. They can be found for less than $40 online.
