For those of you using Amsoil, what are you using in your transfer case? The toyota owners manual calls for Toyota Genuine Transfer Gear oil LF or equivalent in SAE 75W. Can you use the Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90?

That's what I put in. I can't see that there would be that much difference, and it's a PITA to have to keep 2 types on hand.

I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90. Someone on the forum (IIRC it was bjowett?) said it was acceptable and the only difference might be a slight reduction in gas mileage. LF is "low friction".

I use severe gear 75-110. Now I’ll be the first to say that stick with the 75-90 if you still have the stock drivetrain setup.

I have 4.88s, so I’m not operating at the lower RPMs that Toyota designed the truck for, and as such, the viscosities they recommend.

I'm using severe gear 75W-90, no complaints here.

I have used Amsoil severe gear 75-90 on all my trucks and will do the same on the LC. It has provided great service on my JF Cruiser.
