I’m trying to figure out the correct way to install the last 3 inches of a new OEM weather strip on my restored driver’s side ambulance door. No matter how I position the seal around the bottom latch it doesn’t seem correct.

The dip in the seal doesn’t seem to be wide enough to fit around the latch and the tail end of the seal appears to be either too long or too short depending where the flap on the end should be positioned.

If anyone can provide some insights into the correct orientation of this seal or better yet several clear pictures, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Not the best shots but maybe they will help. The bottom corner of your door looks different than mine.

To the op I think the seal is rotated 180 degrees, that flat flap I believe lays flat on bottom of door and points to the outside of door. If you don’t get an answer by morning I’ll post a picture of reference

Here's how I put mine on a year or so ago. Sure I researched it at the time and did what I thought was correct.

I recently did this. I started at a top corner and worked down from there. I did have to twist as I went because there is a flat side that is the "down" side. Pics aren't great but maybe they'll help.

Thanks to everyone that took the time to reply and post pictures.

I figured out why I was having such a hard time trying to dry fit the seal. The patch panel that was installed to replace the bottom of the door has a "extra" flange not on the original door. It wasn't notice earlier because it didn't interfere with the test fitment of the door before painting.

For now I've decided to hold off putting the seal on the door until I get the hard sides back on the cruiser and I can recheck the fit of the door.
