Won't help you with this seat, but my Coccoro Combi and my Diono Radian R100 both suggest you use the tether to anchor to the floor when rear facing (rail of the front seat). Not a lot of seats are designed to use the floor anchor, but it's relatively common on european ones.

Basically you throw an included loop of seat belt webbing around the seat leg, install the seat as normal, then hook up to the loop of webbing and cinch down the tether. Makes for a VERY VERY solid fit.

We have a Diono Radian RXT. I can vouch for anchoring it down to front seat floor mounts

Same for the Diono Radian RXT. Best seat I could find. Built like a tank. Snug and secure using the seat anchor and supplied tether system.

Absolutely swing by the fire station and let them check it out, if there is any question at all. Before you leave there, check it out for yourself further just to be 100% certain all steps were taken and everything is snug. It is your child after all.
But I'll say this, I have a 2002 100 series, and for some reason, the anchor points do not work as well as newer vehicles. Not sure why, I'm thinking the placement of them is just not as logical newer cars. Probably just better research. I just use the seat belt.
To stabilize it, use the tether. I fasten the end of the tether on mine to the cusp of the bottom of the seat, where the leather meets the fabric, like where your heels would be if sitting there. Use your hand to pull down on the back/top of the car seat, and tighten the strap on the tether until there is no slack.
Further, it's really nice to see people actually concerned about their child's car seat. If I could soap box just a little, keep them rear facing as long as possible. Statistics show rear facing is exponentially safer in a crash, especially to prevent neck injuries. My boys didn't forward face until they were 4 and a half. My little girl is almost 4 and I just forward faced her.

Asked my wife to look at it, and sure enough it had loosened itself up by the time I got home. However I did find a locking clip was placed on the back of the seat so I gave it a go with that, and that one metal clip made life really really easy on me. Fits no problem now!
