Hey guys I bought a set of used wheels online and had new tires put on…I did use the later 94-96 lug nuts.

I used an impact gun to put the wheels on and Unfortunately I did not re-torque the wheels after 100 miles which is recommended.

After a few days I heard one lug nut come off and I pulled over to find the wheel pretty loose ! I re tortured all the wheels on the side of the road. But for some reason this wheel was the only one that almost came off.

See photos of the lug holes. They are just slightly elongated. What do you think ? Can I still run them or maybe just use this one for the spare now ?

Let me know what you think ?

Since these are shank style, I'd say that it's still usable, but I'd rotate it out as a spare only if you can. Lugs look correct for the later version wheels...torque really isn't that much on these 76 ft/lbs for shank that you have and 108 ft/lbs for early cone aluminum/steel wheels, but I never trust any impact gun, even with a torque stick.

I would install it, torque it correctly, and try running it. I suspect it will be fine. Hand torquing (as CrabCake said) is the only proper way to torque anything.

How sloppy are the shanks when fitted in the holes with the wheel off the truck? Compare that to a "good" wheel.

These wheels are hub-centric. Meaning the center bore of the wheel forms the pilot, not the studs. If the lug nuts seat in roughly the same manner on the "hurt" wheel commpared to a "good" wheel, you could consider using the wheel.

The "correct" lug nuts are black.
