Hey guys, I can not figure this one out.
I was coming home the other day when all of my lights and gauges stopped working.
I just got back today from a trip and had time to mess with it, it is the fusible link for the alternator. I tried to replace it twice and each time it blows when I attach the ground to the battery.
Any ideas? I don't want to waste anymore links,

First the obvious, for the link to blow the system is passing more current than the fuse is rated for carrying. Since all you are doing is connecting the ground (no starting or key on I am assuming), that says to me that you have a positive side lead somewhere that is shorting out. With an Ohm meter run a check between the positive post and a ground (say where the negative post connects to the body). If it shows zero Ohms, then you have a short somewhere and will have to trace out the wires.
