I don't have time to search right now so here is a quick version from memory.
To remove the alternator, the water neck has to come off. There is a metal gasket that should be replaced. You won't need to drain the coolant to remove the neck but you will loose a little so plan for that.
You will need to remove the dual alternator belts using the procedures documented in the FAQ here for the 80-Section. Some guys remove the battery tray; others don't. Your choice. Removing the brushes is very easy once the alternator is off. Follow FSM for torque specs and removing the belts.
