Hi honorable LC experts.

I tried to install an aftermarket headunit from china in my 2004 LC. When I plugged the headunit in, it turned on for a while and then turned off (refused to turn on again).

When I put my factory nav/radio unit back in the following happened

  1. ZERO audio in the car. Not even the nav screen touch beeps.
  2. Back up camera does not turn on when put in reverse.
  3. Clicking the “AUDIO” button just leads to “AUDIO OFF” screen.
  4. Clicking the MAP button just displays “EXTERNAL SYSTEM NOT CONNECTED”

Climate controls are all working as expected.

Steps that i’ve tried to troubleshoot
  1. Checked and replaced the radio fuse on the passenger side. Did nothing.
  2. Had a mechanic measure the power feed into the radio unit from the harness (and he said it looks good)
  3. It can’t be the head unit itself since it was working perfectly fine before. The chinese unit also turned on once, and then won’t turn on again - so it’s a problem somewhere in the car.
Have attached pictures here:

A video documenting the issue is here on google drive:
