They have been selling new 1HZ engines for 4-5 years. But the $300 1HZ cyl heads are Chinese made.

Obviously that's very much a "buyer beware" option. You could pick up a decent engine there... or you could get sent a heap of junk. The 1HZ is such a common engine, that wouldn't be my first port of call. You're in Australia too, so you're probably aware if you hop on gumtree you can find a fair few private sales right now, or if you want a warranty you'll find engines a plenty at a proper wrecker for a bit more $$$.

Like I said though, the 1HZ is unbelievably common. They've been in production for over 30 years. They're still used in new vehicles from Toyota to this day. You shouldn't have look far or pay a fortune to source a good condition used motor for a reasonable price. If you're stuck in a market where they didn't see much domestic usage, like the US, I'd look to other sources for an import before I went to Alibaba. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel there.

$550 for a used complete 1HZ is good deal anywhere. I bought one here for $500AUD and sold bits and pieces for a $1000 and I still have half of it. But you have to ask questions, the pic shows a 3 cyl or a V6 diesel.

Definitely buyer beware. They also advertise 1HDT, FT,FTE
pictures and descriptions don't match in a few ads i looked at

I got ripped off from alibaba, ordered 2x 2h cylinder heads, they took the money and never replied again, never saw the heads. I have a good trusted friend in shanghai, he said he would never buy from alibaba himself. But, I have heard of some people actually receiving what they paid for.
Hardly anything is made in oz anymore. We use our factories for trampolines, pseudo rock climbing and mma classes now.
Places like engines australia and sms diesl get the chinese stuff, but as they get a container at a time and physically go there in person it works.
Upon the quality, I don't like it. My mate got a kubota tractor head, chinese, the casting had a hole from the water channel to the outlet exhaust manifold, he had to bog it up himself.

Whoa can't trust anything these days what about idi diesel precups think they would be any good? Just cos OEM Toyotas ones are 80nzd each without shipping need ones for a 3l head

There is a mob or was on ebay, npower, they sell lots of chinese toyota engine parts, valve guides, lifters, camshafts etc. As far as I know even ome pre cups crack (high stress area), but they still work . Have not heard of or seen precups which have not got a hairline crack when someone pulls a head. I believe lots of folks use the npower chinese ones, probably not so much on mud, quite a few mud members have toyota tattoos and insist toyota all the way. You just do not want pre cups to disentegrate or fall in your cylinder! But some aftermarket stuff is ok, imo. And ebay does give you some forced communication and protection, consumer rights stuff. Alibaba, you got wild west nothing, as it stands.

Rather than replace the buckles to fold up my rear troopy seats I just used shoestrings myself, rather than get the toyota buckle. Must admit if money was not an issue probably would go toyota all the way except for things like led headlights or I like sharpe 3x finer rear bearing locking nut. But I would rather a used 2h toyota head or the one which was made in oz than a chinese one for my 2h, which toyota no longer sells. But you can still get a hz head from toyota which is amazing and ace and I rather get that than chinese, hands down. Hz should be a million km engine, so worth it. Probably would still use the shoestring though. 😁

And on another hand, the engine head shop down the road uses heaps of npower cylinder heads for all sorts of cars. But people who don't work on cars only think short term and want to spend as little as possible. hz head go toyota. probably pre cups too
