The alarm on my 2015 land cruiser has started randomly going off. It happened 6 times (that I know of) in the last couple of days. Multiple times it has just been sitting in the driveway. Any thoughts on what it might be? The LC is stock and recently had its 20,000 service.

I know it sounds far-fetched...but is there any chance your key FOB is somewhere with the red panic button getting squashed?

I've been keeping mine in my pocket while wheelchair bound for the last month, and the button often gets pressed inadvertently when I lean or move in my chair.

Or...check both FOB's red panic button. Anything spilled on it?

Or... Could be a malfunctioning FOB in some other way.
To check that...remove both batteries when you're home all day and see if it stops.

Markuson...thanks for the reply. It happened twice yesterday with the keys in my pocket. Today it happened twice with the keys on the counter. Might be a malfunctioning FOB though.

Any idea on how to check if a FOB is working properly?

missed the last part of your post. I'll remove the batteries from the FOB and see. Thanks again.

Take both batteries out when you're going to be home all day, or at night. If the problem stops, you'll know it's one of the FOBs.

Once you determine it's one of them...then take only one battery out & repeat & you'll figure out which one. It it goes off with both FOB batteries removed? -Time to take it to Toyota for a look.

Does it happen at other locations? Or just at home? I ask because of the slim chance that someone else's transmitter could be interfering with it near your house. I'd bet the chance of this is tiny, but if it ONLY happens at home? Hmmm... At least you are under warranty. Toyota should fix it, but they might have a heck of a time reproducing it if it's truly random. Might have to leave it with them for a day and see if it does it while there.

I had a random malfunction in a Subaru WRX... Drove me crazy, and after the shop had if for three days, it FINALLY happened for them. Had it not done that, they'd have handed it back to me unchanged.

I ended up taking the LC to the local dealer (I was in Houston for Thanksgiving). The dealer kept the vehicle for two days and determined that the sensitivity on the glass break sensor was turned up too high. They turned the sensitivity down and I haven't had any more issues!!!
