I was given a alarm key along with the new rig. I don't have a FSM yet but was hoping to get some advise.

The key has a black plastic head with a purple and grey button.
My eyes are not as good but I can make out the word Canada on the back of the key.

I looked around and found an alarm box tucked up on the left side above the kick panel.
Since I am not ready to cut the plastic ties yet, I was only able to make out the numbers
6908 I believe, on the alarm modual.

Am I looking at an aftermarket alarm, Do aftermarket make alarm keys?

Is it something dealer instaled, what was the norm from the factory/dealer in a 94.

I've read about the alarm ( I forgot the number at the moment, but found it on Beowulf"s site ) seemed mainly for alarms on 97's?

If it is factory where would I look for info?

While I was under there I saw a bracket above the throttle with a 1/4 inch or so groove cut in the end. Is this the bracket needed for the hand throttle. Slee's site says call, but after the trip. I was hoping some one here could fill me in.

Went into Anchorage today and all around me people were peeling out when the light turned green. The cruiser was like a mountain goat.

Having fun in the snow and on ice :flipoff2:

you need 2 things. the bracket(which I think is on all 80) and the pedal with the mount/tab for the cable, I think only 91-2 didnt have the correct pedal, I had to get one for mine.

if you got both, just order the hand throttle from Slee or the dealer.

if it has purple on the fob and the box says made in Canada........its not stock(almost sure)

Regarding the alarm, you should pull out yours and verify the model number.

Magnadyne, amongst other channels, sells to dealers whose service department then installs the alarms in the new vehicles. Some dealers agressively installed aftermarket alarms in all vehicles, and then attempt the up the price accordingly. If the customer absolutely refuses to pay the up then the dealer pulls the alarm.

Dealer installed does not mean it has anything to do with Toyota, other than it was installed in a Toyota and perhaps by the original selling dealer.

It is also possible that the model I pointed you to is a newer version (A) than what you may have installed. You need to talk to Magnadyne once you know for sure which version is installed in your truck.
