Hi,

I just got my Aisin water pump from Rock Auto, I have had good experience with them.

The box says Aisin, and has the right PN etc.
But the pump itself has the manufacturer casting stamp area dremmel'd off and an little Aisin sticker over the original stamp.

Anyone else seen this? Should I be worried.
The obvious concern is that someone is using el-cheapo parts and putting the Aisin/OEM name on it.

Also, the pump shipped with 4 studs and an extra plate gasket.

My pump has 4 bolts, not studs. Normal on 85 60?

The new pump already has a gasket on the backing plate. So cant figure out why they sent another, unless it goes between the pump and block. The FSM doesnt show it.

Thank everyone.

The studs are for the flange that connects the fan to the pump.

It looks like an Asin pump I say it's good to go.

Studs. Ah Ha, would have prob figured that out during install.

Thanks for the feed back on the AISIN. I saw another post with a PIC of an AISIN, and the casting marks are in the same place as the erased marks. Other casting details seem to be the same. Cant figure out why they would have been removed.

What was removed was the TEQ casting 'cuz you ain't buyin' it in a Toyota box!

FWIW, the one in the Toyota box is the same price, now... From discount dealers like BENO, etc...

I'm running the rock auto aisin water pump on my 3FE for over a year with no issues. It had the casting marks removed like yours.

I just looked on the Rockauto site, and they seem to no longer sell the Aisin pump. I guess you got one of the last remaining.

Doesn't matter. Like I said, $80 from the discount Toyo dealers. $80 on amazon. When it's that close, I want it in a Toyota box. :D
