I will soon be rebuilding a 78 front axle. I was wondering if I could replace the warn hubs with Aisan hubs?

you'll have to change birfs too...78 birfs are longer and the hubs are longer to accomodate them.

So, I would have to get birfs from a 79 or newer cruiser?

You can use mini truck or cruiser (79+) birfs, they are the same, as are the aisin hubs.
