What do you guys that have onboard air (York) do for an airtank, and where do you have it mounted? No, I do not want a bumper that is an air tank....

Mine is under the gas tank where the spare used to be. I moved the spare on a swing out carrier. The tank is actually 3inchs higher than the spare was. I'm worried that I might smack it on rock, but I haven't yet. If I ever do I think I'll find another spot but I'm not sure where. I don't want to add cluter to the engine compartmetn, don't want it inside. I could't find a good spot along the frame rails that wouldn't be vanurable. So I guess I'm still looking too.

I have an article in an older 4WD Australia, where they mounted one in a troopy. I need to revisit that about the tank, but I just dont know where to put the damned thing.

I never thought about where the spare was located...

Some put them underneath in the back....i think the frame rail is where some was putting them(it has been awhile sense i seen the thread).

Stink i have a big 9 gallon tank with a base if you want it....it is yours just pay for the ride. i think the sucker is like 2 feet long plus....powder coated grey. I know it holds air:meh:just to big for me:beer:

Anyway you can get dimensions for me?

I broke the idler pulley that I replaced my smog pump with, and I have a really good York in my shed, might as well put it in that position...

i can in the am..just just me a pm to remind me...but personally i would go with a york cause this tank is big:)

Just a thought, but would there be enough space in the empty area between the fender and the inner fender-well to mount some kind of small hot-dog tank? Wouldn't be very accessible, but if you did it right the first time, you wouldn't need to get back at it.

yup i also use this Air Management Compressors - Viair 400 150 PSI compressor with the tank but honestly it doesnt really move enough air to keep up. it def does the job for airing up tires and the tank makes a huge diference but still not a 40 gallon like at the house.

Stinky, have you found a way to fit the york there?
I've tried standard & mini yorks, had them down there in the engine bay, could not get them to fit below the PS pump, above the motor mount, beside the steeringbox and ahead of the header/exh manifold. There just isn't room w/ the stock PS.:bang:

Maybe if the PS was swapped for a higher mounted saginaw?

Or maybe if the York replaced the Toyota AC compressor?

I will check into this when I start the project. It seemed like the best place to put it in my desmogged truck....

Sorry about that stink.....one whole end was smashed up against the wall with the mower pushed up on it....:whoops:has not been a good week

Man! I guess I should have hit the spell check. You'll love the York send pics on your mounting position.
