This is what I started with before getting all fancy with the custom ECU seen here:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/687173-home-brew-diff-lock-ecu-air-lockers.html

All you need to buy is the Toyota "magic" switch and one diode. (And a relay if you have the ARB mini compressor.)
This can be done by anyone who has installed a car stereo.

Here's the diagram:
View attachment Simple Control.pdf

1) On the bench: Wire the solenoids, relay and compressor as shown to a connector.
2) Under the hood: Wire the three factory wires shown to the other side of the connector.
3) Behind the right kick panel: Locate the ECU connector and jump pin 12 to pin 5, jump pin 6 to 7, connect a diode from 14 to 15 (diode band to 15.)

Of course you'll remove the wires and splice them together, but you can jump them for testing.

4) Plug in the Toyota switch and you're done!

Operation: Rotate the diff-lock switch to "RR" or "FR-RR"; the compressor activates but the solenoids don't activate untill the CDL is engadged.

I know there are alot of ideas on this floating around, I hope you like this one.

I have a 97 and have the switch wired and working but can't find the locker ecu plug to wire for lights. Everyone shows a 15 prong plug but there definitely isn't one. The only empty plug in the kick panel is 11 tab.
What was yours?

It's a gray 16-pin plug.

Looks like this:

There is definitely not a 16 pin gray plug, but I do have the diff lock switch plug and it is powered. Instrument bulbs were taped over.
Very strange but I will look again. I have 3 empty plugs in that area but none match. Is it possible it is not there?
Thanks

Can you post photos of the 3 empty plugs?

Is is possible a previous owner already did some mods in this area?

@landcrshr, Any reason not to jump 12-2 and 6-9 on the 16 pin connector? I understand it wouldn't reflect actual locker engagement but wouldn't it serve as an dash light indicator of dial rotation? Am I missing something?

Yeah, that won't work. The dial is switching +12v, while the indicator lamps need a ground signal.
