Air intake with dyno test? (1 Viewer)

I don't know if anyone makes a 100 series aftermarket air cleaner assembly, we certainly don't. The big news though is that any of these air cleaners (including ours) only give about a 3 h.p. gain during DD and highway rpm's. The companies who clain 12 to 18 h.p. gains also provide some fine print that puts those gains up at rpm's that you and I don't use.

Would you think that an aftermarket, cold-air intake would suck up a lot of dust for an off-road vehicle? I know we all don't go off-road every day, but I was curious whether dusty conditions would prohibit a cold-air intake?

I put one on my wife's M3, but that makes perfect sense to me.

Thoughts?

put it this way, the bigger the holes in the filter, the more air and other junk can pass thru no matter what kind of oil its saturated with. Id stay away from k/n filters and the like for just that reason not to mention the oil off the filter will coat the maf sensor and its a pain to take em off and clean em all the time. Id stick with stock, maybe make a bigger hole on the can so it can suck more air thru the stock filter. Im thinking of what i did on my tacoma - deck plate mod - allows u to let more air in and close it up if doing any really dusty or watery conditions.

I do like the fender flares for 100. Remind me of 80.... Can we buy some?
Where is Mot? ;)

I like those fender flares as well, as I recall, they want DEEP $$$ for them.:D

K&N makes an intake system for the 100, macneill and i both have it.

filter, or intake system?

Do you guys do a lot of dusty conditions? Concerned at all?

water-crossings would concern me. With the amount of excessive rain i have seen in the past year ive been thinking of going the snorkel route over the intake for hp.

I've considered putting the stock system back on.

I agree with it letting in more dirt.
What is the deck plate mod? Any pictures?

Like how much?

The actual Japanese aftermarket flares should run about twice as much as the Taiwanese copies that are sold here in Thailand.

Haven't checked the Japanese ones, but the Taiwanese ones run about USD 360 for a set. (comes in primer color).

I went to check them out late last year, but wasn't too pleased with the quality.
