Guys,
My first post around here.
I'm usually at Mbworld.org under the AMG 211 and 203 sections.
Both of my cars are slightly modded and have some nice easy upgrades.
When purchasing my LC200 for my wife and 3 boys, I wanted something rare, great quality and not too flashy. So I bought my LC exactly 1 year ago at a nearby Toyota Dealer.
Back to my topic:
In AMG's, specially newer models. Its common to remove the carbon filter thats located inside the airboxes. This has proven to add over 10hp and tq in via dyno testing.
I can post a link if somebody wishes to see our post at MBWorld.org.
I have done most of my services with my personal mechanic. I only use Mobil 1 5*20 and buy my own oil filters. I have not yet replaced the air filter but often inspect it. I'm probably going with a TRD.
Open your air box and remove the hard filter stuck to the top of the lid. Use a regular screw driver and becareful of the plastic taps.
Anyhow.. results are good so far. A bit more engine growl and on the highway it pulls just a bit nicer. Carbon filters are more for emissions purposes and not really any added benefit I don't believe.
Also, I mostly run 91 oct here is So Cal and I believe this engine is tuned for 87oct. As for most modern engines.. ECU adapt to the extra octain and is able to increase timing. Letting more air wont' hurt one bit.
My next mod is probably a mild muffler and DVD playback on my Nav system.
BTW: I do have 20" toyota sequoia Limited rims. They have a dark gray trim and they are machine polished. Truck looks way better. 275/55/20 OEM tires. Paid $1200 on craigslist.
If you want pics.. please email me at joecordero76@yahoo.com and somebody can post them. Resolution is bad on these forums.
I still would like to see a nice tune to this great engine and maybe a way to flash the ECU via hand held tuner.
With the new Qx56 around, is nice to have extra power to pass if needed.
btw: My E55 is about 480+RWHP with simple stage 1 mods. Dyno was taken 2 year ago. Since then I have a few more mods than have slightly increased that figure.
That used to be my wife's daily driver until the LC200. She is used to having a car that can move.
But at the same time, the LC is just an awesome truck. It does EVERYTHING we ask it to do. Luxury, Performance, and Utility.
enough.. for tonight.
thanks,
-Joe
