Morning all,

I mechanically installed an ARB twin compressor last weekend (except for hose between compressor and manifold, which needs one of the fittings at a 90 degree angle) using Slee’s brackets; electrical will happen next weekend. I don’t have the ARB pump up kit, and looking at it and the space involved between the compressor and the hood, I’m not sure the quick disconnect that comes with the pump up kit will fit on the manifold without hitting the hood.

Any advice? If the QD will fit on the manifold by someone else’s experience, great. If not, does someone have a clever mounting solution for the QD somewhere else? I’m not a fab guy, so I’m looking for something that can bolt or screw into a convenient location.

You can clock the outlet on the compressor. If notice, the shroud that covers the outlet is slotted for this reason.

couple things to note:
  • Most people don’t re-clock with this setup. It will work out of the box. I always thought mine would hit but it never did
  • There is some adjustment in the Slee bracket. The long bracket that goes along the fender well is slotted. You can move it ever so slightly
  • ARB does sell a filler relocation kit with 90 degree fittings. They also make some nice stainless airline in various lengths if you really want to move it - this is what used.

I mounted the air connector at the front between the grille's horizontal ribs. I made a bracket using 2" of 1-1/2"x1" aluminum L stock and about 9 inches of 2" aluminum bar stock in which I drilled a 1" hole so I could mount the air connector using a bulkhead with an elbow push fitting. I found that I needed to add a short brass nipple to place the connector forward enough to reach it from the outside. I bolted the two aluminum pieces together and then bolted the entire fixture to the crossmember to which the bottom of the grille connects. I used 3/8" nylon air hose but you can use 1/4" hose if you wish. I routed the hose in front of the battery and along its side where it was then attached to the manifold with another elbow push fitting. I like using push fittings because they rotate making alignment easy, and hoses can be connected and disconnected without tools. My LC is in the shop for an A/C repair. When I get it back, I'll post some pictures.
