Just in case you needed another reason not to rip out your AHC. Definitely a PASS on the moose test.

Yes, even though the Hundy handled well, the driver was still a jerk for risking the lives of others on the road. DO NOT TRY THIS WITH CARS INSTEAD OF MOOSE! However, the true "hero" here is the driver of the vehicle recording this ordeal. How many of us would be smart enough to react how he/she did to prevent getting rammed into?

Anyone have any idea how a spring-laden 100-series would handle this?

that would also be a :repost: Cool vid though!

HOLY CRAP!

Bismark, VSC only helps prevent excessive wheel slip and applies braking to individual wheels to regain control. AHC prevents excessive roll in such situations, which may have led to a rollover in this case.

Time to clean the seats!

Yeah, that's actually quite surprising to me that it handled that way. That's comforting to me knowing that in an emergency situation, the system stiffened the suspension in the way it needed to avoid rolling. Cool, and I'm glad no-one got hurt there. Crazy driver though :(

Brown skid marks?

From how I've seen my AHC work (read slow and not milli-second adjustments), I don't think AHC had a play in the save. I would guess the save was probably 85+% VSC (Vehicle STABILITY Control), 10% AWD if the driver had the smarts to accelerate out of it, and 5% driver skill or luck. In the video the VSC appears to have done exactly what it was designed to do.

dealmaker, FWIW AHC adjusts damping in milliseconds but not height.

I have no idea to what extent this played a role in the video of course but, aside from the manual damping adjustments, the system allegedly (per Toyota) would react to that unusual rapid direction change by switching (near)instantly to maximum damping. However it would not, as far as I know, try to actively increase pressure on the roll side or anything like that since it is a semi-active system rather than a fully active system.

So does it work similar to XREAS?
