While I was sitting waiting for my loaner @ Lexus and their is a guy in their with his wife waiting for the diagnosis on their new LX570. Apparently the AHC stopped functioning. Always being paranoid about mine in my 99 470 I was casually ease dropping.

Next thing I heard was $13,000. My ears piqued. Apparently the dutiful wife in an effort to prep her new ride for the winter had taken it upon herself to fill the wiper fluid reservoir with an anti-freeze wiper fluid to prevent freeing up here in the great Pacific Northwest. You know the fluid reservoir filled with that grayish stuff near the firewall. :whoops:

Yep, she dumped half a bottle of mixed de-icing wiper fluid strait into the AHC reservoir and drove it around for a week or so, occasionally adding more fluid as needed.

Result no warranty coverage and a $13k repair bill. The entire system has to be replaced. :bang: But they'll throw in a free loaner because they feel bad.

Yep!, seen it happen to a Kawasaki loader. These days you got to be positive your putting the right stuff in the right hole. Bestl left to the service dept. :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

BAHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I was there, I would have started laughing so hard.

Yeah, I had to get out of there. He just sat there looking like he just had to shoot Old Yeller.

Service rep looked like he really did want to be there.

.

I dunno how true all this is. The engine bay should be all covered up with plastic coverings. If one could quickly get the plastic coverings off the engine then one should be able to figure out which tank fluid should go in.

WOW! That is cool. Mine looks nothing like that. The only thing covered is the middle part above the engine.

It comes standard in the LX 570. If this cover is actually fitted in the 200 series, did it help dampen the engine noise, other than keeping the other engine components clean? Where can one purchase one and how much? Thx.

Most newer model Lexus vehicles I have seen have that cover. I guess so when you pop the hood the engine looks as pretty and sleek as the outside of the car??

Don't know how in world she did it. Never underestimate the ingenuity of a woman committed.
