Does anyone know if the AHC system is coming to the Land Cruiser? I know it is in the Lexus Lx but I am not interested in the Lexus. Could the parts be ordered from Euro Spec models? I may buy a Land Rover if Toyota keeps separating their two brands by more than just styling and luxury features. There is no reason to just give the Lexus the AHC when anyone who actually goes offroad drives a LC.

Frustrating...

Why is it frustrating?

It is pretty obvious that it is not available.

Thank g-d it's not available! I'd rip that POS out in a heartbeat!

I know of no one that would prefer to have AHC vs. an after market setup.

They dont have it in the US because they need to create a cost difference and also AHC is not that great for offroading, KDSS will do you more good than AHC on the trails. Secondly very very few people will take their LC or LX offroad, the guys on here are the minority, myself included, but I have a 100 series.

Assuming the wiring harnesses are there (they were for the 100 series) it is possible to get the parts from overseas and mount them, but it would be way more money than its worth.

If you actually wheel it, i cant think of anyone.....i plan on getting rid of it on my 100 when it finally dies

Pardon my asking but what is AHC?

Its a hydraulic/pneumatic suspension system that allows you to raise/lower the vehicle and also change the ride settings (like sporty or comfy). There is a wiki thing about in the 100 section, the basics of the system havent really changed for the 200.

.

I think it has less to do with cost difference and more to do with the fact that Land Cruiser owners do not want the AHC suspension. I mean, the GX460 has KDDS/AHC so why does the LX not have KDSS?

I think its a bit of a stretch to say that LC owners dont want AHC, it was on the 06 and 07 100 series LC in the US and is available on the 200 series LC outside the US. IF no one wanted it, they wouldnt offer it. I my guess is that the 200 LX doesnt have both either because of some sort of design limitation or the fact that they dont see enough demand for it. The LX isnt intended for people will actually venture off-road, not saying it cant offroad, but it has alot to do with the intended market. Its important to remember that in the US an extremely small percentage of LC/LX owners regularly take theirs offroad.

My Landcruiser 100 does have AHC now. I swap the whole AHC system to the US, UZJ100. BUT i did swap all the wiring harness with it. I can tell you one thing. A US UZJ100 does NOT have all the necessary wiring to get a AHC running. For one, there are a couple of harness between the frame and body that exist on a AHC truck that does not on a UZJ. And then, the incab firewall harness probably does not have the necessary for the AHC.

At probably 2000$ a corner (acumulator/controller/shock) for the AHC, then add height accumulator, pump, piping, wiring harness. you are maybe looking at a 15k lot of parts to get a AHC. That is without adding the time required to do such work, and i would expect you to have to lift the body off the frame to get everything installed.

I'd say it will be alot cheaper to buy a Lexus, and swap the lx570 badge and grill out and replace them with toyota / landcruiser emblems....if really that is what you want...

I had AHC on my 05 4Runner and I really miss it on my Cruiser. I used it all the time when hooking up the boat or the travel trailer and I never had the "High Beam" flash that I get now. I don't know how it affects the KDSS but as far as pulling a trailer goes it is almost a necessity for me.
What makes me even madder is that now I have a backup camera I can put the ball right under the hitch and if I had AHC I wouldn't have to get out at all until I had to latch or unlatch the trailer. I am probably going to install some Mickey Mouse aftermarket air bags that won't have a pump and I will be filling up with air every time I go fishing or camping.

I don't trust AHC, one of the reasons I chose this truck over the LR4 and Range Rover. The other was the fact you have to have 19s on the Brits to clear the calipers.

A fair percentage take their 200s off road to some degree. Very few LX570 owners do, I must say the bling/chrome/20s of that car meant it was never under consideration even though it's a good piece of kit.

not a 200 series lexus owner but a 100 series; I cant wait to rip out that ahc. The entire system was replaced last year under warranty and still gives me issues. I think the land cruiser is definelty more utility based for the world market and these fancy systems are in certain markets. I think in australia you can get the AHC system in the land cruiser.

Before we purchased our 06 lx470, we test drove a lc that had ahc. Towards the end of the 100 series lc, I believe the ahc became standard or it at least became difficult to find one without it. After driving it around for a couple of years I decided i did not want another suv with it and so purchased the 200lc. Now I cant wait for the ahc system to fail so I can add an aftermarket suspension. As far as the lx470 is concerned, I don't believe its for anyone other than casual dirt-roaders. Any hint of weight in the rear and she squats.

02-04-06 100 owner, 08 and soon to be 11 200 owner. Just a little story on AHC. My long-time oil change guy is an engineer by education- owned machine shop in CA. sold for $ & moved to mountains of SW CO. Is no johnny-come-lately to details. Trust him with my wife in the closet when I am not home, which qualifies him to work on my LC's. Like everyone though, has a bad hair day. During an oil change, fills the AHC reservoir with PS fluid. Out here in rural CO. takes 2 days to get the AHC fluid from Denver. Drains, etc. and everything is ok. But, I never once used AHC up to that point. Just one more thing that can go wrong. Also, I was under impression that at a certain speed AHC disables so stability does not become an issue. KISS. I'm not a big OR guy but was ok with my 100's W/O AHC and 200's don't offer it in US to best of my knowledge.

Once you go over 20 mph AHC reverts to normal height, and above another speed it actually lowers the suspension to improve stability and handling. With 30K + miles on my LX no problems with the AHC so far. Course, the only "offroading" I've done is in the fields around the hunting camp, which isn't much of a test.

Im a bit confused with this post.. From what I am understanding," you cant wait for the AHC in your 200 to fail so you can replace it with an aftermkt suspension" ?? UHMMMM.. USA spec 200's are NOT equipped with AHC . Perhaps I'm not readimg this post correctly.... :hhmm::hhmm::hhmm::hhmm:

We purchased an 06 lx470 with ahc, this is the one I'll replace with aftermarket suspension when it fails. The 200 series we purchased instead of another lx because we did not want another suv with ahc.

Sorry about the confusion.:whoops:

I don't believe it can. Unless you absolutely require the bells n whistles of the 570, I'd give the lc a serious looksee.
