I am selling a AGR ported power steering box. I pulled this off of my FJ45. It worked fine before it was pulled. It will come as pictured with the hoses and pitman arm. Asking 250.00 plus shipping. Located in NM.

GLWS! I'm not in the market quite yet but I'm curious, what does the "porting" do?

Thanks

It is ported so you can run a hydraulic ram to assist steering.

Do you know what ratio it is? Or, how many turns to one stroke?

Looks like I get about three and one third turn for a stroke.

Less than half the cost of new one. Good deal for someone! I want it just dont need it right now.

AGR gear box gee whiz information: this 3 1/2 turn "dual stage" box has a much better ratio than the 4 1/4 turn boxes (which are way too mushy on the highway).
3 1/2 turn box 16 to 1 slower speed ratio (off roading ratio)
13 to 1 higher speed ratio (freeway driving, feels road better)
4 1/4 turn box 20 to 1 slower speed ratio
17 to 1 higher speed ratio
Draw back of AGR gear boxes is they are too strong (1500 psi vs stock 1000 psi). Guys with the 1500 psi are damaging their steering system in off road terrain (big tire against a rock) since the gear boxes are too powerful and actually don't let you know when you are doing damage. Best to use a "stock" GM pump with this gear box.

Thanks for sharing that info. That is good information to have andway more than I knew.

Just to add more about this box it was run with a stock gm power steering pump and an AGR ram. The 45 had 37 inch tires and the system worked just fine. On trails it worked great and on the highway at 75. The 45 could have been better on the highway with sway bars and stiffer springs but no fault of the steering box.

Interesting. Thanks Jim.
Also, I’ve never seen the fittings welded like that before. Usually just tapped with NPT and thread sealant applied.

Tank,
What happened to the ram and hoses? Do you still have them?
For some reason I keep coming back to this thread. I guess it interests me.

I have a ported 80 box that I am using on my build. I am not sure I will use them but kept them just in the event I do. I might be willing to sell them with the box for an additional cost.
