Aftermarket Steering Column - Mounting Options?

Thanks guys. The 30" column worked out perfectly for me. As I mentioned, I have great clearance all around the shaft in the engine bay and I am very happy with its position in the cockpit.

Chuck, thanks. The dash is looking better but I am on the lookout for a new dash piece. Mine is too hammered around the edges where numb-nuts (PO) fit his POS roll cage plus the dozen or so holes he drilled and his hack-out for the extra guages. Hoping to find a cowl that someone is parting out.

Oh, and my "rattle-can" thread has been updated with recent pics, check it out if you haven't yet.

Will Do. Thanks.

Well, since I started this thread I thought I should finish it for the next guy who searches on this subject. I'm posting a couple pictures of my solution for mounting an aftermarket column. To mount it to the dash I used the unit picture above from Flaming River. It bolted up easily and it looks OK. I may paint it, I'm not sure.

The floor mount I made from some 16 guage sheet metal and some 2 and 1/4 pipe that I welded. The pipe had an inside diameter of 2 and 1/16 and I cut it at a 35 degree angle. To center and secure the column from vibration, I drilled and tapped three holes for set screws over which I threaded a nut. It mounted nicely to the factory holes and I'm very pleased with the outcome.

I did roughly the same thing here. I used exhaust pipe for the rol section.

Also, I had the trim ings that came original so I used a round flat base on the mount and sandwiched it un between two pieces of rubber and the trim pieces.
