Just got a new head unit installed in my 2000 LC. It sticks out pretty far. Are they all like this? If I would have bought a different one would it sit more flush? It’s a Sony XAV 5600. Thanks.

If I push it back, there will be a gap between screen and trim. It’s mounted correctly for this screen. Just wondered if all head units were this thick on the “face”, if that makes sense. Or maybe I could buy aftermarket trim piece and it’s thicker around where the screen sits?

I have the same Sony unit and it looks the same. If you look closely where the screen sits in the trim (see arrows below) Sony has a bezel that fits the full size. Not sure why they designed it like this but they did. You might be able to modify it so the unit looks more flush like @Trunk Monkey suggested. Alternatively, I have seen other models from other manufacturers that sit much more flush. For me, I am just living with it.

Such a bummer. I’m OCD and it’s bothering the piss out of me. Especially to know most other screens sit more flush. Lol

LOL, yea for the first week after my install I was pretty pissed about how it looked. Figured I would show my partner and if she hated it too I would return it and go for another option. Turned out that she liked it so in it stays.

I’ve looked at a few others online and it seems they stick out some too, can’t tell if it’s a pretty universal amount or not. It seems to me it’s more about how thin the trim is, than how the stereo is built.

Mine sticks out just a tad as well. After a few different hole settings, I just gave in and actually forgot about it. I'm used to it now.

If your OCD is severe, one could always drill new holes into the metal mountain brackets/wings and it would sit perfectly flush.

Any scratches in your paint job or creases in your seat leather?
