Search for threads containing @Rainman and you'll find similar q&a's. I was able to get the stepped shoulder version at Napa. They didn't have individual nuts but an 8" piece of pre-flared line with 2 nuts was only about $1 more. From everything I've read, it shouldn't make much difference so long as you have a reasonable amount of thread seated into the receiving end.

There are a few fittings that need the shoulder. I find it mind blowing that the fittings on Cruisers vary quite a bit from place to place. One may need a shoulder, the next not. Another hole is four threads deeper. It's really quite ridiculous. I know that a shouldered nut will not work on a front caliper. (if the shoulder is more than about 2mms long.

Almost every (only because I haven't called every single place in the US) place that sells metric nuts will only have them with 7/16" hexes on them. Metric stock for making brake nuts has gotten very expensive so they all gave up and changed over. I've ordered thousands of new 9mmm and 10mm nuts from overseas. I don't know when I'll see them. But as far as I know, I may be the only one with truly metric nuts in the States pretty soon.

Back in the day when Downey sold braided hoses for various Toyota models, we developed a 10mm fitting that perfectly split the difference between the "short" and "long" Toyota fittings, we did this to not worry about what customer had or needed, the compromise fittings worked perfectly for us the remainder of Downey's life.

My new nuts ordered are "compromises" too.

so, they might or might not work
orielly's had these metric lines already made up, I just cut one end left the nut on and re flared. 10mm wrench fit

I'll try to remember to get back to this thread, but it'll be a while til i get brake fluid back in

been using them for years as long as they tighten down and seal there should be no problem
