Hi All:

Hello "Marce!"

You might get a better answer in the "40/45 Series" section here on ih8mud.com

That said, it would be better for you to use a later Land Cruiser 4 speed transmission with the Chevy 350 V-8 instead of the old 3 speed transmission.
The transmission and transfer case from a 60 or 70 Series would be the most strong with a V-8 engine.

Try companies like:

Downey Off-Road

or,

the 3 speed is a tough little tranny, nice and light. it comes down to how hard you are going to puch it, in loose sand you will be fine.
doing burnouts on dry pavement will kill it.

what's the problem with bolting a the Muncie SM465?
then you know your tranny will handle the sbc.
