Hi all you Lexus LX 470 owners. I need a little advice. I own a 2000 LX with 99,000 miles. It's in great shape and is fully loaded even with tow package and trailer brakes, etc. I want to sell it but cannot for the life of me figure out a fair price. I have researched comps and blue book, etc. and the ranges are from $14K to $22K. I don't know what a fair price would be and I don't want to give it away either. I love this car! Any help you can give me would be great!

First off....I think the high side of your price range is WAY too high. From my experience in trying to sell an SUV (Land Rover LR3) in this market, you won't even get any interest if you stick with KBB / Edmunds pricing. Its unfortunate, but its a buyers market now. I'd say start at the lower end of mid-range pricing and be prepared to be flexible.

NADA indicates clean retail is $20,400 - this would be settlement value if it were on my desk. appears you should start around $19,9 depending on how bad you need to sell it. Gas prices are not helping you right now and these figures have been falling fast.
Clean trade is $17,450 - of course that is if the dealer wants it and if you are buying something from them. Average trade is $15,350.
$14K??? that is a total steal for such a fine luxury vehicle.

For reference I just bought a 2003 LC from a Lexus dealer for 19.8K with 68K miles.

tlobue, Also depends on your location.

Ron, that sounds like a great deal to me. Too bad I'm not in the market for one.

In may 07 I bought an 01 with 94K from a lexus dealer for 20.5. Based on what you state I think 17K would be fair and generate interest. might need to be a bit flexible but maybe not. Above 17 I fear pepople will just pass it over.

I wouldn't try to get 22k from my 2000LX, even tho I have 10k in mods invested. I would say 17.5-19.5k is What I would look for, assuming the truck is in clean condition.

With the V8 badge you're going to be taking a big hit no matter what book price is. So, if you NEED to sell, plan on taking a hit. If it's not pressing, set the price a little higher and wait.

Or just take the badge off, only takes a few minutes.

Have you done the 90K service? Unfortunately in today's market you're looking at the low side...I'd say $14-$15K IMHO. I've seen a couple 2000 LX's at dealers in Denver for $15-$16K, and a number of 2000 LC's at dealers for $12-$14K. Bad time to sell unless you're willing to swallow hard. :crybaby:

Thanks to you all for the advice!!

Thanks so much for the advice...I am going to price it at 18 and see what happens I am willing to go lower but not to 14 for sure....I haven't had the 90K service so I think I should do that first! Thanks again I appreciate it!

Yep, do the 90K service because if you price it at 18 you'll be keeping it for awhile.

FWIW - I priced my 2000 LC at $18K a few months back and got zero offers at any price? It has $7k worth of mods and the service is 100% up to date. I know it's not an LX, but just an FYI. At this point I'm glad I pulled it off the market as I would have ended up buying another one soon! Good luck.

Black Book Pricing

Wholesale Average 14.8K / Wholesale Clean 16.8k

These values come from the site Blackbookusa.com. I use it for work. It is subscripition based, and supposedly the values come from dealer transactions at auctions etc.. The values are usually lower than NADA and KBB. I have seen the dealers use this to price a trade in of mine years ago.
