clicking noise started a few days after valves were adjusted

I had that horrid clicking niose from the valves. I had them adjusted and it was fine for a few days, I drove it from Austin to San Antonio and now I'm noticing another clicking noise. It's not half as bad as it was but it wasn't there when I first got the truck back from the shop. I'm way overdo for an oil change could that be where the clicking is coming from?

Yes I am an idiot when it comes to cars sorry :(

I think I read somewhere here that the fuel injectors on the 3FE are noisy. If your rockers are chattering a little I wouldn't worry too much. I'd worry more if I didn't hear and clicking from under the valve cover. The valves have to seat in the head for a split second so the heat can be transferred from the valve to the head. If you hear nothing, the valves may not be seating long enough to provide the heat transfer. This will lead to burned valves and a head rebuild.

Yeah, it's not bad but it's still a slight click that i noticed. It's ten times better than what it was when the valves were loose.

So the click is a good thing then? THat means the valves are getting heat transferred correct?

Called the mechanic and he said when they did the valves the cam is almost gone. I have 20 or 30k miles left on it before it needs replacing. Takes about 12 hours in labor is that right?

don't know about the cam?!?? but to isolate the clicking rest a large screwdriver against each injector (from the passenger side) while the motor is idling and put your ear to the other end of the screwdriver then rev the motor once for each injector. you will know for sure if that is the source of the clicking and you also may find one or two is louder or different when revved than the rest in which case I recommend you try some redline injector cleaner.

the 3FE valves continued to tick a little on my brothers 91 after an adjustment but much much less so and no longer like a sewing machine

To answer your question, I guess I'd rather hear some clicking in this type of engine than no clicking at all. No clicking could mean that the valve wasn't seating long enough....espicially if it was an exhaust valve.

Thats exactly how mine is now. It's ten times better but there still is a small click but supposedly it's normal?

Yeah, I called LCS (local land cruiser shop) and he said your cam is almost worn out. The valves had been loose for a number of years. Unfortunatley nor me or my dad knew about the shop where I take my cruiser now so we had trouble with mechanics.

12 hours is a lot of labor.
