Where I am the fuel is particularly dirty. A regular part of servicing the 100 series is to back flush the fuel filter, and there is always a reddish brownish contamination that comes out. I'll have to get a photo of it to show you. Just a part of life here.
With a new 2009 200 series VXR, with the 4.7 V8, I want it to remain as pristine as possible. It has only two tanks of fuel through it and I am considering adding another fuel filter. This would be easy with the 100 series, as it is very accessible in the engine bay, but on the 200 I haven't even found it yet.
Especially depending on access to the filter, I would be back-flushing/discarding the additional pre-filter at regular service intervals.
Anyone know where the filter is, and if mounting a second is feasible?
UPDATE: Located the filter under the middle left side of the vehicle mounted on the frame. It is protected by a steel impact cover secured by four bolts. It is half the size of the 100 series filter! I also took a look at a new one at the dealership parts department. It is mounted to a bracket that secures the whole thing to the frame.
The location is making me rethink this idea, but am not deterred yet. The size makes me think a second filter is an imperative. Maybe by tracing the fuel line to where it enters the engine bay, there will be a good place to install a filter and mount it.
