Has anyone successfully added the factory auto folding mirrors with factory switch to a 16/17? I must suck with the search function. I went to google to check, and it brought up some aftermarket options. I would like to use the OEM factory components if this is even possible, or not some monstrosity to accomplish.

Thank you!

I thought there was a setting in Techstream that would turn on the auto part.

Here is a thread on the topic:

A good way to search is to use Google with “200 series ih8mud” after your query text.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, I’m wondering if there’s a way to get the factory auto folding switch and get the mirrors to work. I’m not sure if that would take new wiring to the mirrors, programming, or other.

Sometimes I like tinkering. I’m also weird and like buttons and switches. But, I always like to keep it factory before resulting to aftermarket.

i tried to enable this using techstream, but it won't work on my 2016. the option to enable "auto fold" on "lock" is in the customization options in techstream for my truck, but apparently the folding motors don't have power going to them except in ACC or Ignition On modes. i tried all three options (ACC, Lock, and Off) and then switching from one to the other thinking maybe it would reset some trigger in the system, but all with no luck.

it may be as simple as simple as changing the power source to a hot wire, but that seems like a lot more trouble than it should be...

Just press the button right before you shut it down. Mirrors fold. Shut truck down. Press button again. When you get back in the truck and turn it back on, mirrors will automatically fold out.

oh yeah, i'm a pro at this method! ...BUTTTT we just got a new navigator L black label for my wife, and i'm now daily driving the 200, and the navigator has autofold on lock as a factory setting you can enable through settings (and the f150 platinum that i just traded in also had this option, thanks to forscan)...so now i'm trying to do all the things to the 200.

i just ordered one of the OBD dongles from aliexpress that goes behind the canbus and mounts on the steering column after looking around at the link from @TeCKis300 in the prior post...and i'll post results here once that comes in and i get it installed. the one i ordered also lets you raise the windows with the key fob - you can only enable lowering the windows/sunroof with tech stream.

Interested to hear how it goes. Was surprised how seamless it worked on the GX.

I found the solution on some Russian website, just by grounding one pin of E4 connector of main body ecu you get folding mirrors on lock and unlock. I am waiting on delivery of a Lexus button and connector with "auto" function to make it fully "oem".
In case someone is interested I can share more details

Got the part in a little less than 2 weeks. Took all of about 5 mins to install and test and button it back up. Works perfectly.

One item to note - this particular dongle apparently also rolls up the windows when you lock it with the key fob. I suppose if you want to leave the windows cracked in hot weather just don’t lock with the fob?

I’ll report back after a few weeks of living with it.

Very interesting! Glad to hear initial tests sound promising. I'm sure LC owners would love to hear back.

I’d love more details on this!

I’m using one of those OBD2 dongles on my 2008 with great success, but would like to free up the port for other things.

Maybe a different solution but there exists OBD-II port splitters.

the OBD dongle i used doesn't occupy the port below the steering column and above the pedals - there is a port on the underside of the steering column and under the cover where the part piggy-backs into place - the OBDII port is still accessible.

update after living with this for almost a month - no issues at all.

bonus feature: morris fold automatically when you open the rear hatch after you have parked and turned the vehicle off. this is super convenient for me. for example, after arriving at your destination where you may not need to lock your doors, if you retrieve your bags/etc from the rear of the vehicle, the mirrors fold. this works out great for me - i park inside one of the garage bays at my house, and have no need to lock the vehicle. i almost always have to go to the rear to get my bag or groceries or something out of the rear before i go inside. mirrors are folded and out of the way when i walk back to the front of the truck to go inside my house.

Interesting! My dongle looks nearly identical to the one in your AliExpress link but I plugged it into the main OBD2 port. Will go poking around later.

Might swap my dongle for yours as it sounds like it's more refined. When you lock the vehicle, can you hear all of the window motors "trying to close" repeatedly for a few seconds?

the windows only try to close if they are open, i assume the computer checks if they are closed or not before trying to close them.

there is a video of how to install the dongle i have on the purchase page - it literally took like 5 mins to pull the cover off install it and button it back up - beyond that, it really was plug-and-play. but it looks like the cable piggyback isn't an option for pre-2016 LC200s? the video is on the item purchase page, i put a screen cap below - the video subtitle says 2018 - 2021, but it worked great on my 2016. maybe that's the model years in asia? who knows...it also looks like maybe the wiring may have changed with the 2016+ models to allow the piggyback method with the wiring in the steering column?

based on how well this works i'm actually considering one of the remote start modules from ali express as well...
