I have had good luck with using the inside of of a chuck like the one pictured. I reach through the ‘spokes’ and pull down on the chuck.
I would add that annually or 18 mos it’s a decent idea to exercise the mechanism because especially in ‘road salt climates’ corrosion can make the winches sticky. Pro-tip: Make a slight mark on the tire to help you line-up the valve stem is at the rear of the vehicle which allows you to slide under less to service it.

So are you being proactive, or is your TPMS light coming on? If the latter, you have a leak in the tire, stem, or rim seal. It takes a VERY long time for enough air to naturally leak out of a spare to fire off the TPMS. If the former, don't worry about it. As noted above, you should exercise the mechanism at least once a year to make sure it works when you need it. I've had to cut the chain on a Toyota and 2 Hondas due to locked up mechanisms from corrosion.Just purchased a 2018 LC and I'm wondering if there's any way to add air to the spare without having to drop the spare tire to the ground. I need to do this to prevent the TPMS dash light from coming on.
Thank you.
I added air to my spare this weekend. Is it a good idea to hit the mechanism with some wd40 or silicone spray while the spare is down?I would add that annually or 18 mos it’s a decent idea to exercise the mechanism because especially in ‘road salt climates’ corrosion can make the winches sticky.
It cannot hurt. I’d choose a drier lube that won’t attract and hold dirt. Any light spray vs heavy oily stuffI added air to my spare this weekend. Is it a good idea to hit the mechanism with some wd40 or silicone spray while the spare is down?
Sandroad, I am just being proactive, just like I'm planning on spraying LPS3 on the KDSS valve this weekend.
