Front Harrop e-locker installed on my '05 recently. Very easy to wire it to the factory 80-Series and early 100-Series Diff Lock dial
that I added. Having owned 3 Locked 80-Series, I missed the dash light indicators as a reminder you had turned them off on the trails. Looked and looked but could not find anything but finally did. Australian company had them. Wired them up and mounted them in the dash and could not be happier. I just have a front Harrop e-locker so far (plus A-TRAC); rear will be next year then I'll wire up both indicator lights. Pics and 2 videos below. Fun project if you enjoy wiring.

I thought the combo meter had those in it. The 80 does.

Referring to the 80 locker rocker on the left side of the steering wheel? This would be news to me. I have it in mine and I don't believe it had any wiring for lighting involved. Would be great if that's the case though.

No, I meant the lights. When the magic dial is turned, the lights on the panel light up.

98-99: optional rear locker w/dial and dash light
00-07 : no front or rear differential locks, only A-TRAC
98-2007: all had center differential lock with dash light

In the U.S., that is correct. Other places in the world still had a rear locker available through 2007. I’m betting Toyota used the same instrument cluster.

I would think so too but I've never been able to find any lock indicator other than center on my '05 with a flashlight. Pics below.

It's been 20 years since I had a 100, and my memory wasn't perfect, even then...

Even the US market trucks have the front diff lock indicator in the combination meter. My 99 has the factory center and rear diff lock, but there was a front lock symbol right next to it with no bulb in it. They are right next to each other right under the tachometer. All you need to do is add a bulb and run a signal wire to the blank on the connector. Don't laugh at my two-tone different shades of woodgrain interior.

Here's a walkthrough that RobRed (TLCFAQ) wrote about adding a lamp to the cluster (2000 MY, with OEM parts #) that indicates whatever you want (he used it to light up when his air compressor was on).

Kinda relevant and cool so I figured I'd add it to the conversation.

harrydunn, I like what you did with the new indicator lights.

Front locker light unnecessary. If you can't tell your front end is locked... well... :slap::)

In other news, the front locker (or option of) has been absent since 1997. But come 2025, the Lexus LX700H Overtrail model will come with all three lockers.:bounce:

That's what I remembered!

Does the electric Land Cruiser come with air powered lockers?

I have the same switch and almost installed indicator lights, but it's pretty obvious when your lockers are on. I use mine like 30 seconds at a time. If you're running entire trails with the lockers on, you should stock up on spare axles. That's not what lockers are for.

Now what I'd like to see figured out is a way to disable them over 5 or 10 MPH so other potential drivers don't do something stupid.

No Toyota/Lexus has OE air lockers. Mechanical, yes. Electric motor, yes. But even the electric motor is not so reliable due to elements and lack of use. They've gone to electro-magnetic.... like Eaton/Harrop type. Which I approve.

That would be early 100's only. Different dashes.

Yep, I've had 3 locked 80's and you definitely know when the front is locked. Fun little project automotive wiring project.

It's unfortunate that sarcasm doesn't translate on internet fora...I wish someone would mandate that all vehicles were electric - oh, wait, someone did. How did that work out?
