Thanks for the nice comments. It is too bad you guys can't import these until they are 25 yrs old. Such a shame. Things are a bit slow with n/a 1hz but i will be working with Wayne to install the turbo, senders for the gauges and tranny cooler. I am really lucky to have someone of his skill and kindness to help on the install.

Pics above are Of the awning with some custom mounts and wired in an LED strip for the underneath of the awning. Just thinking through the solar panel hook up to third battery in the back. More to come.

These will be legal as of January 1, 2015 in the US market.
True for the type, but my whining comments above about waiting 11 years are specific to the late model unit mentioned.

There are lots of nice, older rigs out there, but my preference is newer...

I used a 24 to 12 v converter for the deck, amp and 4 Usb plugs. The rest is off 24.

I bought a second converter for my old 12v arb compressor and water pump, spending 50 bucks on a converor vs buying all new compressor and pump was a no brainer.

hopefully it can cope with the amperage your going to put through it.
I was sketched out of converters personally so I spent far too much money on a 3rd battery set up.

The amp is fairly small and and both the amp and converter have 30 amp fuses. The aftermarket stereo continues to run off the stock converter. The usb's added to it pull negligible amperage as well, so I can't see having amperage issues for the converter. it has been running well over the last month and if anything changes, I will look at other options. At this stage, I am still thinking through the addition of another battery. Specifically working out another deep cycle mounted in the back and dedicated to the solar system and having 'camp' accessories running of it and having the solar feed the battery itself. This way any house power is pulled separately from the starting system and in a pinch, I can route the solar power supply to the starting bank if for some reason they run flat.

And just out of curiousity Foreal - do you know what model of ARB bumper you have? I am trying to source on to fit the 77 and ARB is confused to what model for the 70 series will work since they don't have an indicated match directly. I figured any of the 70 series would fit but not sure of the nuances. I believe there are models for the 75, another for the 78,79, and then one for the 74??

I think it will be better to take the model for 75 because frame are very similar (leaf springs, front face, etc).
The model for 74, 76, 78, 79 will feat but you may have to make some mods (front helicoidal springs, some dif on the front face, etc).
Pay attention because of the new front face after 2007.

Congratulations. Welcome to Club77. :)

Looking good. How is the bonnet glare with the light bar up there?
I have thought about buying another one mainly because of the cheap price to stick under my rack.
Forgot to ask since your turboing the truck, are you planning a boost comp? I highly recommend you do.

The light output is insane, and the bonnet does have a glare. The bonnet is definitely lit up, but not In a bad way.

I have already purchased a boost comp and is in the mail, along with some other goodies. Mad scramble to get this done. I am off heli skiing this week and then the cruiser goes to Wayne's for the install.

Hard to look at it in the garage and not be able to drive it in the snow with the salt. Like having a super model wife who wears coveralls and doesn't let you touch her. :)

Gauges are all in, reverse lights and third battery installed in the rear which will support air compressor, and water pump. It will be kept charged with a 40 watt, which seems small for running those two items, but in reality, they will be used for very short bursts and soaking up the 40 watt all day.

I also installed a 100 watt to the roof, which i am still debating to where to located it. I may add rtt, but already have the awning/tent combo from Rhino-rack (see RTV 5, which is brilliantly designed and fast to set up with little weight penalty like the rtt). If i mount the 100 watt panel on the roof it may have to sit toward the front flush against the light bar. it will cover the opening for the sun roof (which has a cover as well), but there are worse things to happen to ensure you have power feed when in the bush. the 100 amp will feed the 24 v bank, plus the fridge.

more fun progress is the install of the denco turbo kit and tranny fan/cooler. Wayne is elbow deep in putting it together, regretably i am unable to assist (hand tools to him:) given our timing. We are going through a few other items that should be checked at this mileage - starter (rebuilt), alternator (rebuilt and on borrowed time apparently), injector pump, injectors rebuilt. He and ryan dropped the oil pan and found a ton of sludge, indicating possibly irregular oil changes in its past. His suggestion is throwing in a bit of tranny fluid into the engine oil and let the conditioners/cleaners gently clean the deposits over a few hours of running, then swap oil/filter then repeat once more. this should clean enough without being harsh like sea foam. I had nver heard of that before and learned something new.

I also picked up a set of 5 new Cooper ST MAxx in 255 85 16.. looks like an excellent niche between mt and at and the size is brilliant. they are a very heavy tire, and recently won at Dakar with one of hte production classes (hiliux i believe). I don't plan on running Dakar :) but the conditions in botswana are similiar - sand, crumbly sharp rock/gravel. I didn't want the paddles of the MT since most driving will be on gravel/pavement. this tire apparently is remarkably quiet by my research and should last 50K miles. third pic below is next to my old 315 75 16 from my 100 seris.

Any chance of a few photo's on where those suspension seats bolt down. I just brought a pair for my hj75 but unsure if they are going fit with out mods.

I still have the cruiser at Wayne's place but can snap a pick next weekend. Someone else might be able to get one quicker to you.

As for the 'wierdness' over the first couple hundred km, I have read this is attributed to the chemical they use in the mood to prevent the tire from sticking and it wears off fairly quickly. Your comments are reflective of many folks hat said the same thing.

I am curious to your experience and feedback on the tire, including reference to the application and environment being used.

I installed a set of BJ70 suspension seats in my 77 4yrs ago and all i had to do was remove the floor bracket that is welded to the floor in between the two seats near the shifter. There are factory nuts welded to the underside of floor and all i did was drill from the bottom thru the nuts and then bolt the susp assembly in. Toyota always thinks ahead!!

Thanks guys on the replies but my main concern was if the floor pans are the same between all the 70 models. My interest in the photo's of the floor mounts on the hzj77 was so I could compare them to my hj75.
Cheers

These still did not totally satisfy me for a winter tire. In my opinion a tall skinny mud tire that is sipped and/or studded still is the best winter tire. These coopers still would float more than I liked in deeper compressed snow like on the roads when you get a snow dump and then a bunch of cars have driven over it.
