access to top of auto tranny

Need to replace the missing vent tube from a440 auto trans to top of dipstick tube on 89 . I suspect the easiest way to do this is to access from top. How do I do this and what all has to be removed? I would prefer to know what other "while I am there" items I should plan on, such as fixing squeaky rear fan, linkage on shifter, etc...as I would like to order parts in advance. Thanks!

If there is an easier way, that would be great to know also, but my fat arms don't seem to be able to wiggle up there and install the hose!

For the vet hose, access from within the cab... under the carpet on the trans hump there is an access panel.

Thanks....does the console have to come out? If so, I may try and find a replacement fan for rear heater as it howls..

Console doesn't need removed... might need to remove the ducts under the dash but I was able to do it just pulling the carpet back.
