I've rebuilt about three carbs now with pretty good success. My current cruiser is having some running issues and I'm trying to locate what the problem is. Here's the question. I've tried pushing my accelerator pump down and it is really, I mean really hard to do. I pulled the top off the carb & and there is a spring in there. Here's the thing, I don't ever remember the accelerator pump having a spring and I also don't remember it being a tough thing to push down. Any thoughts? Can anybody post a schematic? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks:D :D

They all have springs.

Ypu can't replace the "accelerator unit" because it is part of the carb body casting. All you can replace is the plunger.

If it is hard to push down, the first thing I would look at is the outlet of the pump chamber. If it is clogged the fuel in the pump can go any where and it will not allow the plunger to descend any faster than the fule can leak out.
