I can find in the FSM where it details adjusting the throttle cable, but not the accelerator cable. Can someone give me the rundown on that?
 
What is an accelerator cable? You have a throttle cable which is run by the gas pedal or throttle body. You have a kick down cable from throttle body to transmission. You have a cruise control cable from control to throttle.

Shown here, is what is marked as accelerator cable here what you are calling kick down?

Are you able to tell me how I can verify that it's properly adjusted?
 
There is a setting in the FSM, I think the stopper range is 0-1mm out from the grommet or something like that.
 
The FSM adjustment can be deceiving, my old 270k mile cable needed to be tightened to about 2mm to get the throttle cable to kick down without having to mash the pedal to the floor.
This is great, thanks. Any wisdom on the accelerator cable? Should it be slack? Barely taut? Some other way of determining correct adjustment?
 
The FSM has adjustments with a spec for all the cables. I don’t know that one of the top of my head. You for sure want slack, the cable is for acceleration only not idle so it needs to let the butterfly return to it’s closed position without any interference from the cable.
 
Accelerator cable adjustment (the one attached to the throttle pedal):

With the pedal to the floor, the throttle plate should be just touching the WOT end stop.
That's about all of it. Usually that will leave some slack at idle, which is fine.
Idle speed is controlled by the ECU which pushes the ISC valve to maintain 650 rpm at idle.
