Re: 2000 100 series
Is it normal for AC to light up green when trying to use the heat or is something faulty?

Example -temperature selector set to at least 80 (outside temp 38), fan speed selector to any position from low-high, and the AC lights up green. With those same setting, tried toggling the AC button on and off but it stays green. The only instrument control combination that I can find when the AC doesn’t turn green is when the fan speed selector is set to off.

Please advise and see photos below for reference. Thanks

It can turn on when on auto for dehumidifier purposes, but off auto you should be able to freely toggle it on and off with the button.
Thanks. Is there a simple solution that you are aware of to free up this button or correct this issue?

Look at this thread: 100 Series Button Repair How-To - A/C, Defrost, Recirc etc - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/100-series-button-repair-how-to-a-c-defrost-recirc-etc.1111051/

This discusses replacement of the underlying switches on the circuit board (or, if not replacing the entire switch, swapping out the old switch button for one scavenged off of a new switch) when these buttons get finicky. I have several that don't work all the time in my 2000 LC (including, like you, the A/C), and I've ordered switches that I'll remove the buttons from and swap out with the original switch buttons. (Under these outer plastic buttons there's a momentary contact switch on the circuit board that uses conductive silicon to make the connection, that's what others have replaced to make these work again).

Thank you. That link is excellent.

I hear , what sounds like the AC compressor coming on , but the cabin temperature is consistent with the selected temperature.
You can tell if the compressor is actually on by looking at the front of it when the engine is running. You will be able to see the clutch engage.
