AC fan only works on high (2 Viewers)

1993 FZJ 80 all of a sudden my blower only works on high. Has anyone seen this before ?

Blower motor resistor, pretty common thing to fail

I believe its in the dash, kinda behind the glove compartment.

Thanks, I was looking at some diagrams. It looks like it's on or close to the blower motor under the right side of the dash. I'll take a look tomorrow.

As previously mentioned, likely the resistor.

When you only have high speed (look to the resistor since high speed does NOT go through the resistor).

When you don't have high...then look to the Blower Speed Control Relay (fun to get to).

Ok, this is weird. Yesterday what I thought was a relay fell out from under the dash and was hanging from the wires. It's the blower resistor!

Just to finish the thread, I put the new blower resistor in and it fixed the problem. Thanks for your help.

How hard to get to? This is happening to me now

Well, mine was easy because somehow it fell out. It's inside the blower motor cover and all you see is the wire connector going to it. The resistor itself can't be seen until you remove the screws holding it in the housing and pull it out. Pull up the part like you're going to order one and in the picture you'll see what that wire connector looks like.
If you can't find it let me know and I'll take a picture .

My sons fan works at low, the middle speeds are all the same, then you have high. Does that sound like resistor also?

Look earlier in the thread, apparently there is a blower motor control relay that is more likely your problem.
