Need some help. Have an 06 with built in nav. My hvac isn't switching. I was going to replace blend door actuator. Can someone tell me the location? Online I've seen it on drivers side, passenger side behind glove box and was told I need to remove whole dash. Also I replaced the blower motor with a Napa replacement. The Napa cage is a little smaller. Does that matter? Thanks for help.

So what do you mean when you say "HVAC isn't switching" Then you replaced blower motor and now you're thinking about repairing blend door?
>> Is your heat and AC working normally, but you just aren't able to switch the mode from feet, to head, to defrost?

  • Blower motor - Pushes air ( I'm not sure if the cage being smaller is an issue. if it fits and mounts up and the blower can spin then its probably fine?
  • Blend door - Controls flow of air
  • Your post was for " AC Actuator " - I'm not good with AC and I don't know what this is

>>> Sorry I may be mistaken.... I did a Google and it talks about how the blend door controls hot / cold air so may be best to ignore me

I couldn't find much info on it either, the thread below might have some helpful troubleshooting tips

There are three servo motors that actuate three blend doors. 1. is for hot/cold temp adjustment, 2. is for location of air exiting, either upper vents, lower vents or combination of the two, and 3. is for recirculate or fresh air entry into the cabin.

So the issue is seem to have is that it will blow out the vents fine then randomly just stop. You can here the blower motor on. It will then randomly kick back to the vents. I replaced blower motor thinking it was failing plus it was squeaking a lot. Did not solve issue. Next I saw blend door or actuator. Im not sure if they are one and the same. I also cant find blend door. Googling it gave me 3 diff locations. Glo e box, drivers side and under dash saying whole dash needs removed. I don't o own which is why I'm reaching out for help

there are 3 different "blend doors" on the 100 series with the auto Climate control. One is in the AC evaporator box, to get to the other 2 , you have to remove the dash

I'm no expert here but a bit more troubleshooting should get you closer to solving the problem.

So do you feel pretty confident the blower motor is working and blowing continuously? You say air is blowing out of the vents, then it stops, and then just kicks back on randomly. When the air isn't blowing out of the vents, you should still be able to hear the blower motor working, if the problem was the blend door like you suspect.

Noted above says we have 3 servo driven doors in climate control, can you test a bit to see if you can narrow it down :

1. is for hot/cold temp adjustment. Excessive says this one is on the AC evaporator but the two below need dash removal
>>> So when the vents are working, does your hot / cold adjustment work?

2. is for location of air exiting, either upper vents, lower vents or combination of the two, and
>> Sounds like you suspect this one could be your problem. Could do some testing while its all working. Can you adjust the vent mode and does it work to blow from the upper and lower ?

3. is for recirculate or fresh air entry into the cabin.
>> Same same, does the recirc button work?

Your answer isn't online, it's in the service manual and EPC diagrams. Download the service manual and put your VIN into an online EPC, like the Toyota EPC or a third party like PartSouq, and you'll get diagrams for the entire truck.
