We had a disconcerting experience with our 2010 LX yesterday. During am emergency stop, the ABS system kicked in and essentially took over the braking of the truck. Once the LX took over, the brake pedal went all the way down and we could no longer affect braking. The truck came to a stop in time and nothing happened and braking returned to normal after that.

Is this normal behavior for the system? It was really weird to lose all braking control while the system was engaged.

Did you lift your foot off the brake or keep pressure down? If you lifted your foot, this is NOT normal. If on the other hand you kept pressure down, then yes this is how ABS works with the repeated fast paced "thump, thump, thump" type action of activating and deactivating of the brakes.

almost sounds like the "pre-collision" system took over for a minute, as I understand it and have had happen a couple times in my rig it basically pre-charges the brake system, so once you hit the brakes the system took over and stopped the vehicle as fast as safetly possible, also the seat belts tighten etc... I'm not going to pretend to fully understand this system, but I have had this happen a time or two... If this is the same scenerio you are talking about, I could see how you could describe it as "taking over the brakes"...

Pretty much like that. Slammed on the brakes to the point where ABS engaged and the system stopped the truck.

Not sure if I lifted my foot all the way off the brake pedal during this.
