I had an idea on another thread, and I think it may have gotten lost from consideration.

Does anyone sell ABS rings for the front birfield on ABS equiped FZJ80s?

If not, has anyone had a machine shop make up a batch?

I'm assuming that some of you would like a couple. How many would you want and at what price point would you no longer be interested?

Does anyone work in or know a machine shop well enough to have a batch of these made? I'm thinking like 50 or 100 of them. At that count it would make it worth their time to have the robotic mill crank them out. What is the mill stock that should be used for these? I.e. what is the metalic composition of the rings? What would it work out to be on a $/ring basis?

I think I'd be willing to buy 4 of them at up to $50 per for new ones in the factory spec.

What is everyone else's cut off? If one of the vendors on here is already doing this or wants to steal the idea and do it, please, be my guest. I just want the rings not a business.

Thank you,

Grench

i doubt there is enough demand to make it worth it...

doin a knuckle rebuild next week and my abs has been long since disabled.

Actually that is a good deal. New birfs are 641 bucks a pop.

Sold

$50 each for good ABS rings?

Sold. PM me your paypal account name and I'll send you the $100.

I haven't heard back on my offer.

Is there any interest in doing a group buy on the ABS rings if we can convince a machine shop to do them at a decent price?

Is there anyone that has a couple of new or like new ones that they would be willing to sell?

Obviously I'd like to get a couple of them. It would mean that when I do my axel rebuild I only have to have my truck apart for one day as I can have the rings pre-pressed onto the ChroMoly birfields. I like to have all the replacement parts ready, packed & primed. Surely I can't be the only one.

You should contact Bobby Longfield (look in the vendor section) and see if he's made any progress on getting these. He had a vested interest in having a shop make these but I didn't follow up when I was dealing with mine.

Not enough folks are blowing up 80 birfields (yet?) to warrant any interest but believe me, if they ruin one they'll have plenty interest then if they want to keep that "ABS" light off on their dash.

Put me down for one as backup...

I heard back from CruisinGA and he's going to follow through in a few weeks when he does his axel job. Once I have a clean set, I'll likely give up this effort. There hasn't been the general interest that I thought there would be. It would be very hard to justify for 10 or less and the price would likely be high.

Thanks!

That's the same response we got when we looked into making them, not enough demand to make it worth it.
