Curious if anyone is towing a humvee trailer. I’ve been trying to trade mine for a m416 but am now thinking of swapping hubs to fit same size tires as my fj40. This will lower ride, reduce weight and allow extra spares. Bonus is fitting queen size air mattress in bed for camping!

@HulkFJ is/was FJ40 with new demilitarized trailer

Post any pictures you have of yours being towed please.

So far I have only towed mine with my RAM 3500 and the on the property I use the John Deere to move it around. I am planning on towing it off road with my 4.

Anchor. Anchor anchor anchor. The only word that comes to mind. Anchor. Big heavy anchor.

Hell even a little mil trailer can be an anchor. I have towed my M101 and M416s with '40s, 60s and 62s, '80s amd a V8 powered minitruck. They are great trailers behind Cruisers on and off road. I have used then loaded pretty lightly and loaded not so lightly. Among other tasking I have hauled over 150 gallons of fuel per trailer more than once during long group outings. Heaviest loading was about 1250 lbs when using them for fuel. Put two of them on their sides when loaded like that. One of them in a river. For the record, no spillage or damage. Flipped one onto it's top moving too fast when it was empty on a bumpy section of trail. That did result in some damage, but nothing that kept it from working. More than once I have had to unhook the trailer to get a mired rig moving and then winch the trailer out separately.

I like those trailers. But when the trail get's tough enough, they are enough work to drag that I only use them when really needed.

I won't say that you could not pay me to haul that M1101 down a real trail.

But I would not look forward to it. Especially behind a '40.

Mark...

The rag top felt like I had a drag chute behind me and it was harder to pull then a 5th wheel. They don't like high cross winds either it started moving my 1 ton that weighs over 9K.
