It threw a rod and punched holes in a head?

Or the block more likely I expect?

Which engine? 3.4?

Mark...

yea it put holes in the block, 3.4L, had a new one put in, runs like a champ, just depressing, the one time i dont do somthing myself,

I can't imagine anything AAMCO could have done to cause it to throw a rod other than to deliberately red-line it for an hour or two. Or bypass the rev limiter and max her out for a while. Sometimes stuff happens.

Agreed. It sucks that it had to happen when someone else had the vehicle, but it sounds like it was just that engine's time to go.:bang:

If it threw a rod, it was going to happen no matter who was behind the wheel. I had a 540i that ran flawlessly right up to the moment the number eight rod broke in two. Strangest failure I ever experienced, I never could find the reason for it. The two mangled pieces sat on my desk for year while I considered the possibe causes. Sometimes all you can do is just move on.

makes me start to question mine lol..228k and counting... at least you got it back on the road
