I have an 87 fj60 that has pass. side rocker and front door impact damage & driver rear wheel well rust damage. The clear is massively failing, the driver front door was poorly skinned, the hood is beyond saving (due to edge dents and 3 layers of heat-cracked auto paint) and the front clip was hung poorly and has a layer of factory paint and a layer of primer (both failing) The truck has slight hail and medium to heavy ding damage.
That's the bad news....
Good News:
I have donor metal for the rocker
I am acquiring patch panel for rear wheel well
I am acquiring 2 clean doors, a hood and a windshield apron.
I know the impact damage and rust damage body work comes first
Then replacing the doors, hood, apron, tweaking the front clip into place better.
But...
What's next? Full sand then filler work? Or spot filler work, then total sand?
It seems like it will be hard to do filler work on a completely sanded truck, hard to see....Should I totally sand then use spot primer as a guide coat everywhere I'm filling stuff?
