Right on!

Many of us find value in the TLCA as an umbrella association of chapters. Tony Twiddy was very careful to encourage chapters and allow them to operate as they wanted. Alan has taken us to the next level in completing the website renewal and we've seen some new events take off as well.

Our priority should always be chapters first and increasing members next. I never forget our magazine subscribers either. That group of about 3000 provide us with more than $9000 each year which helps to keep Toyota Trails our shining star.

Let's all commit to incorporating others into our hobby.

I think the TLCA and the chapters do a great job of offering something for our wheeling members and we can see that by how vocal they are in general.

As the club moves forward, we need to offer something that caters to the 3K or so that don't wheel much but use their Toyotas for hauling the canoe, the family to the mountains, overland expeditions, scuba diving or just adventure sports in general.

As we reach out to these members our club becomes much more diverse and more valuable.

We have the ability to easily do this now. A wicked survey tool at our disposal.

We should work on generating about 10 questions for it and see about getting it into an issue of Trails (hyperlink only) It's an online survey.

There's really not much point in doing a survey if we can't see some large percentage or at least a cross section of membership respond. I know that responses to a mail in survey with no postage provided will return around 1-2%. Which is to say, we'd be basing decisions on what 36-72 members had to say.

I've ran some for clients that have had a return rate from 1 in 10 to what your seeing in print response.

On average (from my experiences) it's been around 1 and 35 users. But, that's users that see the survey online. I've not had a lot of experience with online survey's posted in magazines.

With our 39K unique visitors we are seeing on the web site per month, our response would be greater. My only thought about possibly putting a link in TT would be to make sure we cover the demographic and not exclude anyone the opportunity to participate.

Todd, edit to add: my thought was to make a mention with a URL in the Trail Leader article thus eliminating the need to create extra space in TT

my 2 cents

Here's my $.02 on the name game. In my opinion, this is and always will be the Toyota LAND CRUISER Association. Just like the states of Texas and California will always be Texas and California, not TexMex or Texico and Cal-atino. In the same way that I have no problem with someone from latin america (legally) coming to america, I also have no problem with FJ Cruisers, 4 Runners and other Toyota off-road vehicles joining in. It adds to the great diversity, knowledge base, and innovation of off-roading.

I enjoy reading about those crazy people who sold everything and bought a used Troopy and are driving it around the world.

Will I ever do it? Nope. But it is a good read and something I look forward to. Just like any other Trails/Expedition article.

Ok, here is my take on this.

I don't know of any Land Cruiser that does not start with FJ. FJ40 Fj60 Fj45 Fj100 FJ200 and so on. So how is the new FJ not a land cruiser. BTW I own an FJ40.

The name change to Toyota Four Wheel Drive Association would be good and would include a lot of people that don't feel connect. But again I think week need to get the trails back to B/w for a while and pay for some advertising to get people to make a difference in saving the land and enjoying the events....

That is why I am a member.

Ok, here is my take on this.

I don't know of any Land Cruiser that does not start with FJ. FJ40 Fj60 Fj45 Fj100 FJ200 and so on. So how is the new FJ not a land cruiser. BTW I own an FJ40.

You need to get out more, I have two Land cruisers, both of which do not start with FJ, ones a BJ and the other HZJ, and there are lot's more. But they do all end with a number, like 42, 79, .........you need to find a better reason.

OK, let me clarify myself. Since I don't know of any factory diesel FJ cruisers, I don't know of any gas Land Cruisers that don't have FJ some where in the Model. I really don't need a reason cause I do not own an FJ
