Oh, somewhere in this favoured land the sun is shining bright,
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light;
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout,
But there is no joy in Canukland-the Great Betzky has struck out.

Too many spoiled brats. And I wonder if a much higher percentage of Euro based players played during the "year off". Canada and the USA competed for Gold last games. Both we bumped early this games. Were the NA based players rusty? Just a thought.

I played hockey at a fairly high level for almost 25 years. I was at the '72 game in Vancouver. There was a time when I really cared. Not so much now.

At least you can depend on Land Cruisers. They won't let you down. :)

Wow...that great to know Bruce. What position did you play?

I think that in men's hockey, at least, that the rest of the world that cares about hockey is catching up in terms of quality players with the North American players. The Russians have been a hockey powerhouse for a long time, but the Scandanavians are also up there now. Canada and USA can no longer take for granted "dominance" in this sport...except for our women, who absolutely destroyed everyone else. :D

Hi Allstone,

I played between the pipes. As a team mate used to say "I donned the tools of ignorance."
