86 BJ-70, Canadian, had a good life but succumb to the Canadian cancer:-(. Time to cut up and haul to the recycler. Lots of parts will live on :-)

With this thread title I would have bet the subject matter was a 2L-TE. :)

Bittersweet.... I can't say I knew 86 BJ-70, Canadian personally, and am saddened to here of this loss. My spirits however are buoyed by the notion and picture in my minds eye that pieces, parts and the very essence will live on.....

Wasn't that one restored a few years ago? Body doesn't look that bad. Do you know about the new Alaskan Cruisers forum here at MUD? It might be a good place to offer up some of the leftovers for sale.

Hey Coldtaco, hard to tell from the photo but did you also cut out the firewall from your BJ70? Are you planning on doing the left hand drive conversion as well as the 3B swap? I will be starting mine at the end of September, except i'm doing it with one of my 85' BJ70 parts truck mainly because of the 12V part and installing on one of my 91' Prado's. Good stuff looking forward to your posts

I did the left hand swap. Swapped in the front clip from the BJ to fit the 1HD-FT. Swapped over the cable locker axles front and rear, still got to do the rear. When I get done I will post up my story :-) It's been 4 or 5 years in the doing :-(

Thanks ColdTaco,
I look forward to the pics and your write up. I have subscribed and will eventually do my own right up but will also wait till is is closer to being finished before i post anything

damn, there was still life in that body ... i have seen much worse for sale in Canada. a little duct tape and bondo and you could have a typical "restored, no rust" 70 for sale to some sucker.

rust in peace.

I would have brought "big bucks" in the U.S. :D
I could see the advertisement now .... Rare, rust in normal places but easily repairable, other than that, near mint.
Did I mention it is super rare.

Wow this is going to be one sweet build with the 1HD-FT fit into this truck along with the cable lockers
What else u have planed for this build?

Can't wait to see this all done
Looking forward to this build

I wonder if I could have sold it without a drive train? Could have said "cheap, yadiyada, pristine, rust in usual places, easy to fix" :D

You left out "extremely rare" ...... That usually seals the deal. :D
